Growth in 25+ apprenticeship starts as older learner numbers return

The proportion of 25+ apprenticeships has gone back up to levels last seen before the failed 24+ apprentice loans system, provisional figures out recently have revealed.  The figures, published in the Statistical First Release suggest a full-year growth in apprenticeship numbers across all age groups — but the biggest growth was among those aged 25 or above.

The troubled, and ultimately scrapped, 24+ advanced learning loans for apprenticeships are widely acknowledged to have been responsible for fall in numbers.  However, it is now hoped that more apprentices will be drawn from this age group in the coming years.

If you are aged 25+ and would be interested in gaining more nationally recognised qualifications, we would be delighted to discuss your needs.  Call us on Hull (01482) 210093, Scunthorpe (01724) 848382 or Grimsby (01472) 355277, for more details.

I am 18 years old and currently doing an apprenticeship at a local solicitors in Grimsby. I never had a solid idea about what I wanted to do, so I was definitely sure that University wasn’t for me, or not yet anyway! So, I applied for an apprenticeship with McArthur Dean. I got the job shortly after, and now I am able to build on my skills and hopefully progress in the company I now work for, all thanks to McArthur Dean and my apprenticeship. I honestly believe that young people like me should look into becoming an apprentice, they really are a great opportunity to develop work-related skills while earning. Also, not only do you become familiar with the type of work, the company becomes familiar with you and your capabilities, leaving you with a good chance of employment and progression within the company after your apprenticeships. Getting an apprenticeship with McArthur Dean was undoubtedly the best step for me, because I am now earning my own money, developing important skills and most importantly, enjoying my job. Its great to know that with the help of McArthur Dean, I will have further opportunities in the future with the company I work for.

Thank you very much indeed for your kind words Hannah, we’re very glad to hear that you’re enjoying your Apprenticeship! 🙂
