Donna works as a Locality Team Manager at the North East Lincolnshire Council in Grimsby and has recently successfully completed her Level 5 Leadership and Management Apprenticeship here at McArthur Dean. We spoke to her about why she chose this programme and what benefits the Apprenticeship has given her within her role: “I had been in a full time management position for four years, so this qualification has made me a more effective, knowledgeable and skilled leader working for the Local Authority.” Now Donna is a qualified manager which means her experience allows her to give better insights and make more informed decisions.
Since gaining her qualification, she says she has a better understanding of how her management role fits in with the council’s overall strategic plan commenting that: “I’m committed to ensuring better practice within my role to improve the outcomes for children, young people and families.”
During the course, Donna has honed her managerial qualities such as drive, initiative, self-confidence and personal integrity and she has used this to encourage her own staff: “I am able to communicate performance expectations and inspire employees to reach their goals by maintaining high personal standards.” Gaining this qualification has also improved Donna’s capability to deliver organisational projects and this has resulted in increased customer and workforce satisfaction, cost savings and more effective resource utilisation.
The Apprenticeship has helped Donna to improve her knowledge and develop new skills within her management role and it can do the same for you.
