‘From that moment on my life changed for the better’
In 2014 I was jobless and stumbled across a Traineeship online through McArthur Dean in Scunthorpe. From that moment on, my life changed for the better. Julie Curtis discussed the options available to me and offered me a placement at Tayto Group Limited in Scunthorpe in the HR Department. I worked there for 12 weeks and was then offered a full-time job in HR, which I was delighted with. This enabled me to do the Apprenticeship in Business Administration Level 2. The support and guidance I received throughout the programme was excellent and all of the staff at McArthur Dean made me feel welcome. I was given one to one extra tuition each week and without that I would not be where I am now. They certainly go the extra mile to push their learners to succeed! After successfully completing my Level 2 Apprenticeship, I then progressed on to Level 3. I struggled with my maths and after a few failed attempts to pass, I felt like giving up. However, quitting wasn’t in the vocabulary of Sandie (Gifford) my assessor! She didn’t give up on me and we did extra maths sessions and I did test papers at home. Although I was delighted to be offered a position with Tayto Group as HR Administrator, I needed to get my maths qualification so the pressure was on. After a few attempts I eventually passed and was able to look to develop my career still further. Having achieved this, I then went on to CIPD level 3 Human Resources Practice and graduated in July 2018. I am now looking in to enrolling on CIPD Level 5 Human Resource Management and with these qualifications my career will take me to management level within the space of a few years. I can’t thank McArthur Dean enough for what they have helped me achieve, I will be forever grateful and still remain in contact with the team at Scunthorpe.
