Case Study | Mia Wilks

‘The service McArthur Dean gave me was really fast and efficient and I had an interview in a couple of days’.

Mia is currently working at Quirke Optical (which is part of Boots Opticians) as a ‘Trainee Optical Consultant’ and is taking the Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 (Standard) Apprenticeship.

Unfortunately, Mia’s first role didn’t quite work out as well as she had hoped, which was disappointing.  However, Sue French in our Business Development Team quickly spoke to Mia to reassure her and emphasise the support she would receive from us and discuss the options available.  Her CV was updated and she was soon invited to attend two interviews. In the first one, Mia did really well but was just pipped at the post by another candidate.  However, the results of the interview were fed back to Mia and using this experience, she soon attended a second interview with Quirke Optical.

Quirke Optical were very impressed by Mia and offered her the opportunity to do a trial day, after which they were ‘blown away’ by her and offered her the job. The positive comments and job offer were again fed back to Mia and she accepted the role.

As part of her initial training, Mia had to go on a residential course to Leeds for 3 days with accommodation provided in a hotel, which she enjoyed. ‘I found the training days really enjoyable and learnt a great deal from the experience, which really helped me when I started my new role’.

Mia continues to do well at Quirke Optical and is thoroughly enjoying her job.  She has enjoyed the teaching in the classes and is delighted with the way her Apprenticeship is progressing.  ‘The service McArthur Dean gave me was really fast and efficient and I had an interview in a couple of days. The trial day I did at Boots before being offered the job gave me a better understanding of the job role and I was able to get to know the people there before I started. I would certainly recommend the Apprenticeship to any young person looking to start their career’.
